Tobias's grin widened, his cloudy eyes twinkling with a mischievous glint. "Patience, young miss," he rasped. "There's a reason these tunnels haven't been used in ages. They're not exactly… hospitable."
Lucian, ever the pragmatist, cut in. "What kind of trouble are we talking about? Cave-ins? Wild animals?"
Tobias shook his head, his beard twitching as he chuckled. "Worse, lad. Much worse." He leaned closer, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "Those tunnels, they've been taken over. Turned into a hideout for a nasty bunch of bandits."
Jane's heart skipped a beat. Bandits? Things were going from bad to worse. "Bandits?" Olivia echoed, her fiery hair bristling with indignation. "How dare they!"
