Chapter 2
ANDREA’S POV
“I reject you, Andrea! You omega don't deserve me!”
I heard my heart breaking into pieces when I caught my boyfriend Beck kissing another woman under the moonlight. The way they embraced intimately as if they were made for each other.
As if the past two years he spent with me was a joke.
I accepted Beck as my boyfriend two years ago. I once worried that my omega status would trouble him, he's a Beta wolf after all, he gently comforted me that I was the best gift for him and promised to love me with every strain of his life. Even if one day his fated mate appeared, I would be his only love.
So I nodded happily when he proposed to me a few days ago. Though my wolf, Emrae, wasn't on board with it, I ignored it.
We would be chosen mates, bonding under the blessing of the Moon Goddess. That's how he told me when we boarded this cruise.
Yet now, he was holding another woman in his arms. The woman who he called his mate. The woman wore his mark which he promised to give me.
"She's my mate, Andrea, you know I can not control this," he smirked shamelessly.
"You liar! You proposed to me!" I yelled, refusing to accept this cruel reality.
"It's past." Beck rolled his eyes and didn't stop, "Do you really think I want to bond with you? Get over yourself, Andrea. If it weren't for your pretty face and full breasts, I'd never endure an omega circling me."
“Tiana isn’t just wealthy—she’s an Alpha wolf. And you? You’re just a lousy salesperson and a weak Omega.”
As if it wasn’t enough, he was determined to trample my self-esteem into the ground.
“Why would I give up a gem like her for a stinky stone like you?”
"Do you know how stinky you omegas smell? No superior wolf will want you as a mate."
That's the last stroke, crushing my already broken heart into powder.
I couldn't believe that I'd been fooled by such a scumbag for almost two years. How could he be so cruel?
Emrae rubbed her front paws in anger, wanting to attack. 'I can fight, Andrea. I have to kick this bastard's ass!'
'No, stand back,' I held my wolf. One point Beck said was right. I'm an omega and most wolves are stronger than me. I can't defeat them alone. It would only cause more trouble for me.
But it didn't mean I'd tolerant this shit silently. I took off my engagement ring and flung it in Beck's face so hard that it made a bloody mark on his chin. But that didn't come close to the millionth part of my heartbreak.
“It's I dump you. I’ll never see you bastard again."
I left them without looking back. When I opened the greenhouse's door, a cool wind brushed my face, bringing a fresh scent to me. I looked forward and that's when I met him.
"Mate!" Emrae yipped excitedly.
All my fury and hurt of being betrayed by my boyfriend disappeared like mist in the face of the powerful, electric connection that sizzled between me and him—my mate.
He was sinfully handsome, with his dark locks that were just begging to be pulled and those plump lips that promised nirvana if they touched you. His eyes were a bewitching swirl, drawing me into a universe just for us.
It stunned me more when I suddenly recognized he was right Alpha Kade. I was mated with the most powerful Alpha in my city?
“Hey, what’s wrong?” a female voice cut through the moment.
My tunnel vision widened, and I noticed the she-wolf on Kade’s arm. That was an understatement—she was wrapped around him like a vice, nuzzling his neck. He had a hand resting low on her hip.
He didn't push her away even though he had felt our bond already.
The gossip about Alpha Kade came back to my ears. It was said he was never short of bed warmers but none of them could stay on his bed more than one night. It was said he was waiting for his perfect Luna.
I scoffed, crashing down from my high.
“You’re all the same,” I whispered, backing away. I refused to be caught up with another slimy bastard who couldn’t keep his dick in his pants.
My vision blurred as I moved. I was desperate to leave what was officially the worst Hunting Festival in history and nurse my broken heart in peace.
Then I felt a hand grip my wrist, halting me. The point of contact sent electricity sizzling up and down my arm, and I didn’t need to turn to know who it was.
Kade pulled me to him, turning him to face me.
“Where are you going?” he asked softly, almost reverently. The skank that had been on his arm was nowhere to be seen.
I bit my lip, unable to meet his fiery gaze. The nirvana of finding my mate had faded, and all I could think of was the huge gap between us.
Kade wouldn’t want me. He was the strongest Alpha in New York—he could have his pick of any she-wolf he desired. He wanted a perfect Luna and I was a just weak Omega who couldn’t even keep a Beta satisfied; we would never work.
“Mate,” Kade said softly, and my wolf whimpered, turning into putty.
“You can just let me go,” I whispered, still not meeting his gaze. “You don’t have to reject me outright.”
He frowned, and his grip on me tightened slightly. “What?”
I sighed, forcing myself to look up into his stormy grey eyes. “We can just pretend this didn’t ha—”
He pulled me towards him with staggering force. I had half a second to gasp before his lips came crashing down on mine, and my world exploded.
The kiss was unlike anything I’d ever experienced—passionate and hungry and fueled with a fire that burned throughout my entire body. My legs wobbled under the intensity of it, and Kade wrapped his arms around me, molding our bodies together as our lips collided in a frenzy.
The mating bond shone brightly between us, like a live, tangible thing I could hold on to. I felt my wolf call out to Kade’s and he answered with a deafening roar that blotted out everything else.
I don’t know how or when we moved, but the next thing I knew, Kade was kicking the door of a private cabin shut behind us.
Stumbling blindly backward, he kissed me with a primal ferocity that made molten desire pool in my belly. I stopped when I felt my knees hit the bed.
We broke the kiss then, and Kade leaned his forehead against mine, panting harshly. I could feel his heart thundering almost as fiercely as mine.
“I didn’t think I’d ever find you,” he said, his voice low and rough.
I looked up at him, at the stunningly handsome face of my mate, and swallowed. “Are you sure you want me?”
Kade gripped my shoulders and moved, turning us around so I had my back to him, and he was now backing the bed. There was a mirror in front of us, and my breath caught at the sight of our reflection.
Kade reached out and pulled the pearl clip holding my knot together, and my hair toppled down around my shoulders in a messy wave. He brushed the hair away, and I shuddered at his touch.
Then I felt his fingers at the nape of my neck and watched our reflection as he pulled the strings that held my dress together. The silk fabric slid off my body, pooling at our feet.
I closed my eyes when he buried his head in the crook of my shoulder, and I arched as he wrapped his arms around me from behind and cupped my breasts.
Pleasure exploded within me as he bit down on the tender skin between my neck and shoulder. Kade pulled me back to him, and I gasped as I felt him hard against my bare back.
“You feel that?” he murmured against my skin, turning my entire body to jelly. He ran his tongue over where he’d bit me and kissed the spot hard.
“You’re mine,” he declared with a dominance that made me whimper.
“Mate,” he said gruffly as his hands explored my body, igniting fires in their wake.
“Mate,” I echoed breathlessly, grinding myself against the evidence of his desire.
And with the full moon shining through the window, the goddess’ glow blessing us, we sealed the bond.
At that moment, I briefly forgot about the gap between us. And neither of us was ready for the coming storm.
