ANDREA’S POV I wrapped my arms around Marissa, and she dissolved into a puddle of tears on my shoulder. My chest tightened at the news that her mate had been hurt in the attack. Kade and I were only just finding our way back to each other, slowly getting over all the obstacles that had kept us apart. Still, the thought of him getting so much as a paper cut yanked at something inside me. I felt the couch dip under Kade’s weight as he sat beside me. I turned to him, and we shared a tender look that told me his thoughts were similar to mine. We could understand Marissa a little better, For a long while, she held on to me, sobbing brokenly. Finally, her wails softened to little hiccups, and she lifted her head off my shoulder. “I’m sorry,” she whispered. She raised her red-rimmed eyes to Kade and repeated, “I’m sorry.” Kade nodded. “I didn’t attack your pack, Marissa. And I’m sorry your mate got hurt.” She sniffed and nodded. Kade sighed. “I’ll look into the attack, see what I can find out
