CHAPTER 33 THE UNRAVELING TRUTH
Susan's eyes fluttered open, greeted by the sight of Evans sitting solemnly beside her bed. She reached out, a smile gracing her lips, but the warmth dissipated as she sensed the tension radiating from him.
"You keep doing things that make me love you," she murmured, clutching his hand. But his expression remained stoic, his gaze piercing.
"Why did you suddenly return?" Susan asked, her voice laced with apprehension. "And... why do you look so displeased?"
Evans's jaw tightened, his features etched with restrained fury. "I thought you said you were on a business trip," he stated sharply, his tone cutting through the air. "Grandfather even asked about it at dinner yesterday."
Susan's heart pounded erratically. Did Evans know about her predicament? Panic swirled within her as she grappled with the fear of being exposed.
