CHAPTER 282: THE PAIN OF LOSING MAYA
Fido collapsed to his knees, his sobs growing louder. "I can't... I can't do this," he cried. "She was supposed to be my wife. We were supposed to have a life together. How can I live without her?"
The doctors exchanged a solemn glance, then looked at Caleb. "We need to take her to the mortuary," one of them said softly. Caleb nodded, his face etched with sorrow.
"Fido," Caleb said gently, kneeling beside his friend. "We need to let them take her. We need to say goodbye."
Fido shook his head, his grip on Maya's hand still firm. "No, I can't. I can't let her go."
The doctors moved closer, gently trying to separate Fido from Maya's body. "Please, son," one of them said kindly. "We need to take her now."
Fido's cries grew more desperate as he felt Maya being pulled away from him. "Maya, please! Don't leave me!"
Caleb reached out and wrapped his arms around Fido, trying to comfort him as best he could. "We're here for you, Fido," he whispered. "We'll get through this together."
