CHAPTER 195: THE RAIN
The tension between Caleb and Juliet was palpable as Caleb started the car and pulled away from the curb, the engine rumbling softly beneath them. The silence stretched between them, broken only by the sound of the tires rolling over the asphalt.
Juliet couldn't stand the silence any longer. "Why did you do that, Caleb?" she asked, her voice tinged with frustration.
Caleb glanced at her briefly before returning his gaze to the road ahead. "Do what?" he replied, his tone carefully neutral.
"Twist my words like that," Juliet shot back, unable to keep the anger out of her voice. "You know I didn't mean it like that."
Caleb sighed, his shoulders slumping slightly. "I know, Juliet. And I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that."
Juliet's anger began to ebb, replaced by a weary resignation. "It's fine," she muttered, staring out the window at the passing buildings. "Just...just take me home, Caleb."
He nodded silently, his expression contrite as he navigated the streets towards her apartme
