CHAPTER THIRTY SEVEN – SUBTLE ISSUES
During a rare quiet moment, Cassie approached Tanya at the bar. "Hey, Tanya? I think there might be a mix-up with the table assignments. Table 7 was on my list, but I just saw you serving them."
Tanya's eyes widened in feigned innocence. "Oh, really? I'm so sorry, I must have misread the assignment sheet. You know how hectic it gets in here."
Cassie nodded, not entirely convinced. "No problem. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy."
As she turned away, she heard Tanya mutter to Melissa, "If she can't keep track of her own tables, maybe she's not cut out for this place."
The night wore on, and Cassie found herself becoming increasingly frustrated. She was certain that someone had moved the bottles in the storage room - nothing was where she remembered it being.
"Looking for something?" Melissa's voice startled her.
Cassie turned, trying to hide her irritation. "Yeah, I could've sworn the Belvedere vodka was on this shelf yesterday."
