CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY SEVEN – FREEDOM HAS NO DETERRENT
The drive seemed to last forever. Finally, the van came to a stop. When the doors opened, Cassie's heart sank. They were on a small airstrip, a private jet waiting on the tarmac.
As they were marched towards the plane, Cassie heard one of the men speaking into a radio.
"Package secured. ETA to Romania, four hours."
Romania. They were being taken back to Karl.
Once on the plane, they were seated separately, each flanked by armed guards. Cassie's mind whirled, desperately trying to come up with a plan.
As the plane took off, she caught Florian's eye. He gave her a subtle nod, and she understood. Whatever happened, they were in this together.
An hour into the flight, Cassie decided to make her move. She started shifting in her seat, her face contorting in discomfort.
"What's wrong with you?" one of the guards growled.
"I... I don't feel well," Cassie moaned. "I think I'm going to be sick."
The guards exchanged alarmed looks. One of them roughly untied her hands.
