CHAPTER THIRTEEN – WORK HARDER

Once inside, Mr. Thompson glared at them both. "Would either of you care to explain what that little scene was all about?" Cassie opened her mouth to speak, but Lisa beat her to it. "Mr. Thompson, I was just trying to do my job when Cassie came at me, accusing me of sabotaging her work. It's ridiculous!" "That's not true!" Cassie protested. "Lisa's been undermining me all day, spreading rumors and messing with my tables." Mr. Thompson held up a hand to silence them. "I don't care who started it. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable. You're both on thin ice. One more incident like this, and you'll both be looking for new jobs. Understood?" They both nodded silently.
