Chapter 55: A MORNING TO REMEMBER
"My King… you have never cooked anything since you were a child…" The head of the kitchen was clearly distressed at the thought of his king venturing into unfamiliar territory, especially when that territory involved fire and sharp objects.
Gary’s eyes narrowed, the flicker of irritation sparking in their depths. "I can cook, now leave." His voice was cold, each word a sharp cut into the tension that hung in the room.
But the kitchen head wasn’t about to give up so easily. "What about me being your assistant? I will help you with whatever you need." His voice wavered, desperation edging his tone. The thought of his king possibly injuring himself, or worse, ruining the reputation of the kitchen, was unbearable.
Gary shot him a look that could pierce steel. "Leave. This. Kitchen. Now." He enunciated every word with a deliberate emphasis, his irritation palpable. The idea that these people doubted his abilities, even in something as mundane as cooking, was enough to sour his mood.
