CHAPTER SEVENTY EIGHT –DINNER AND A TALK
The next few days passed in a blur of work and social obligations. Karina and Miguel maintained their public facade, but in private, a new tension simmered between them. Every glance, every accidental touch seemed charged with meaning.
Finally, unable to bear the uncertainty any longer, Karina suggested they have dinner together - just the two of them, away from prying eyes and expectations.
The restaurant Miguel chose was intimate and discreet, tucked away in a quiet corner of the city. As they settled into their secluded booth, Karina felt a flutter of nerves in her stomach.
"This is nice," she said, gesturing to the candlelit table. "Though I half expected you to suggest we order takeout and eat in your study again."
Miguel chuckled, some of the tension easing from his shoulders. "I considered it. But I thought we deserved something a bit more... special."
