Chapter 7
She saw the movement of the receptionist s lips, but her voice was barely above a whisper and so it was hard to hear what she was saying.
But she was trembling.
"Well…," He drawled in a terrifying voice, looking at her fiercely, before taking turns to glare menacingly at everyone else present in the room.
"And what could be so funny that got you all so merry just before now?" He demanded icily.
"A sadist." Mitchell muses. "No wonder his face wasn t smiling. What a waste to have such a handsome face."
"Nothing sir" The receptionist hurriedly answered in a low voice barely audible enough for Mitchell to hear.
"Nothinggg?" He said stressing on the last syllable. You cannot possibly tell me nothing because I heard your voices even from the elevator.
The look he gave her was deadly before turning to the two security officers who had left their post for the receptionist desk to chat.
"And you two?" He queried, looking menacingly from one person to another. Is this your post?"
Quickly the two officers turned to return to their post but his voice stopped them. It sounded just like a clap of thunder, reverberating across the room.
The two officers stopped at once. Shivering.
Mitchell watched. Fascinated as well as annoyed at the same time.
"I demand an explanation for whatever the chattering was all about, now?" He commanded rudely, barely noticing the visibly shaken securities.
When none was forthcoming either from the receptionists or the officers.
He growled.
"Now!" He said, sending shivers down their spine.
The receptionist started to explain, but she could only stammer out of fear of the terrifying predator in front of them.
Mitchell had seen enough; she wasn t just going to look on while some man because he looked powerful and wealthy talked to these people intimidatingly. Noiselessly, but gracefully she walked the little distance from where she had been watching all that had been happening back to the reception. The man hadn t noticed her standing there before because for a moment his face registered surprise.
And surprise plus off guard was how Mitchell liked to catch her prey. Just that this one wasn t a prey. He looks more like a predator to her. Carefully dropping her boxes and bag on the big receptionist desk, she turned to look at the man. For a minute she just fixed him the most hostile look she could summon before she sweetly smiled at him.
"Apologize to them," she said.
"Pardon?" He asked astounded
"I said, apologize to them," She repeated louder still fixing her gaze on him
The receptionist quickly circled her desk to come and stand in front of her, but she gently brushed her aside.
"I got this," she communicates through eye contact with the receptionist.
As the receptionist was about to say something the man found his voice again, and this time calmly said to the receptionist.
"Back to your position" but still, he had sounded commanding.
Wondering who the man could be, Mitchell continued to stare at him. He looks oddly familiar but she couldn t remember having seen him before. But whoever he was, he sure looks powerful and in command but looks don t and has never deterred Mitchell from putting rude and arrogant people in their places.
Though not a frequent visitor to Zezame Incorp, she knew almost all the heads of the company s department and their CEO. Most of them she had met during a business event or even got to know through Daniel s during their discussion. So, this man, Mitchell was certain wasn t a staff of Zezame but possibly a friend to one of the top executives and she was going to make sure he realized people shouldn t be treated rudely regardless of who he was or might know.
"Are you done feeding your eyes on me?" He asked sarcastically
"Yes, but certainly not done asking you to apologize to them, not collectively but individually."
"And if I don t?"
She laughed derisively then. "You don t want to find out, do you? So, apologize or you would have me to contend with."
At this, the man made a funny look.
"And I assured you," she added crisply, "Their boss won t take lightly to you treating his employees like this. So, I am sure you will want to apologize unless you want me to report you.
"Report me?" He laughed. Damn.
"Yes, report you. We are close. Very close" she said, stressing on the word very.
The man leveled his gaze on her and looked at her with keen interest.
"Close?" he asked with a note of disbelief in his voice. But Mitchell ignored it and nodded affirmation.
"What would it be?" She asked tersely
"Do you know who I am?" He asked.
