Chapter 145: Judgement
The name hung in the air between them. Mary reached out, squeezing her brother's hand. "Dan, you need to let her go. Anya made her choice."
Vincent took a deep, shuddering breath. When he spoke, his voice was barely above a whisper. "I know. I have let her go, I mean. It's just... where do we go from here?"
Mary's voice was steel. "We do our job. We bring down the Twelve and anyone else involved in this mess. Together."
For the first time that day, a genuine smile crossed Vincent's face. "Together. I like the sound of that."
Across the city, in a lavish penthouse, Shaina paced nervously, her eyes darting to the door every few seconds. In the corner, her daughter Hazel sat curled in an armchair, her phone clutched tightly in her hand.
