Fear, cold and suffocating, tightened its grip on Scarlett's heart. She understood now. Ava wasn't just angry; she was consumed by a burning hatred fueled by a past she couldn't escape. And Scarlett, through no fault of her own, was caught in the crossfire.
"Scarlett… what are we going to do?" Dr. Wilson's voice, heavy with despair, echoed in the damp chamber.
Scarlett looked at the woman beside her, tears streaming down her own face. Comforting words wouldn't cut it. They were trapped, pawns in a twisted game of revenge.
The damp air clung to Scarlett like a second skin, chilling her to the bone despite the oppressive heat that seemed to radiate from the unseen walls of the dungeon.
Hunger gnawed at her stomach, a constant reminder of their captivity. Time blurred into an agonizing smudge of darkness and silence, punctuated only by the rhythmic drip of water somewhere in the distance.
