CHAPTER TWENTY FIVE – THE CHARITY GALA
Leading the way out of Dr. Wilson's office, Scarlett launched into a tour filled with thinly veiled sarcasm.
"And here we have the playful puppy pen," she announced, gesturing towards a group of yipping terriers. "They're a real handful, just like some of the donors we get around here."
Henry's smile faltered for a brief moment, but he quickly recovered. "Charming," he said dryly. He glanced at Raquel, who stifled a giggle.
As they walked past the cat enclosure, Scarlett couldn't resist another dig. "These felines can be quite picky about who they like," she said, her voice dripping with meaning. "Just like some people."
Raquel scoffed. "Honestly, Scarlett, must you be so… hostile?"
Scarlett raised an eyebrow. "Hostile? Just offering a few observations."
They continued the tour, the tension thickening with every sarcastic remark Scarlett made. Henry, to his credit, remained composed, even managing a few witty retorts of his own.
