CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND ELEVEN – MOVING ON TO BIGGER THINGS
The dimly lit bar offered a welcome respite from the relentless Nebraska sun. Scarlett swirled the ice in her whiskey glass, the amber liquid reflecting the warm glow of the overhead lamps. Across from her, Harry leaned back in his chair, a playful smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
"So, city slicker," he drawled, his voice laced with a teasing lilt, "how's the ranch life treating you?"
Scarlett chuckled, a genuine sound that surprised even her. "It's... different," she admitted, taking a sip of her drink. "Definitely different."
The past few weeks had been an unexpected journey. After their emotional conversation at the barn, a fragile bond had formed between them. Harry, with his easygoing nature and unwavering support, had become a constant presence in her life. He'd helped her with chores at the ranch, listened patiently as she recounted snippets of her past with Henry, and most importantly, never pressured her for more than she was willing to give.
