CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SEVEN - A NEW PLAN TO SAVE THE RANCH
Hank, however, wasn't quite finished. He turned to her, his bushy eyebrows furrowed.
"Alright, Scarlett. Spill it. What really happened here?"
Scarlett knew she couldn't lie to Hank. Taking a deep breath, she launched into a detailed explanation of Harry's ill-advised plan and her own desperate attempt at damage control.
As she spoke, Hank's face went through a range of emotions - anger, disbelief, then finally, a grudging acceptance. When she finished, he let out a long, exasperated sigh.
"That Harry," he muttered, shaking his head. "Always stirring up trouble. But I gotta admit, the man's got guts. And a nose for payback, that's for sure."
Scarlett couldn't help but crack a smile. Despite the precarious situation, she couldn't deny there was a certain satisfaction in seeing Carmichael get a taste of his own medicine.
"So what now?" she asked, her voice laced with apprehension. "Carmichael won't let this go. What if he presses charges?"
