Chapter 12 Isn't This A Blind Date in Disguise? !
"No." Natalie didn't expect Kenneth to suddenly care about her, which made her a little uneasy.
Melissa was embarrassed, "I didn't mean it either."
"If you meant it, I have asked you out." Kenneth's eyes were sharp, like a blade.
Melissa froze.
"Melissa, come back quickly." Colby broke the ice.
Melissa went back to her seat.
Kenneth took his seat.
Natalie also sat down.
"Kenneth, how's the company lately?" Colby started chatting.
Natalie whispered to the waiter, "Serve the dishes."
"All right." The waiter opened the door and called the waiters outside to serve.
"Not bad." Kenneth replied to Colby faintly.
"Our work here has also made great progress, but we have encountered some troubles recently." Colby was a little helpless.
"Mr. Palmer, if you need anything, just let me know." Kenneth's voice was cold.
Colby laughed and said, "I'm wondering if you could invest in us? You know, artificial intelligence is too hot now, and everyone is working hard to compete. We have no money here, and I'm afraid that we will soon be surpassed by others."
"I see." Kenneth looked sideways at Natalie and said, "Talk to the Finance Department and transfer five million to Mr. Palmer."
"All right." Natalie nodded.
Colby smiled and said, "Kenneth, thank you very much. I don't know how to hold on to this laboratory without you."
"You are welcome. At the beginning, you came back under great pressure, and you've made great contributions to the field of artificial intelligence at home. Moreover, you have helped me. It's my pleasure to do this for you." Kenneth said deeply.
"Now every company is throwing money into it, and everyone is working hard to compete. In order to make faster profits, everyone's research direction has changed. I can say that no one has done what I'm doing. Of course, some people think that my research is not the mainstream and refuse to invest in us, but I believe that my project will be recognized by everyone in the future." Colby was confident.
"As you said, scientific research is lonely. Some people have to face this loneliness all their lives. Maybe what they do will be discovered after death, and they can't see flowers and applause all their lives. But because of the efforts of these people, the society develops." Kenneth comforted, "I believe in you."
Colby smiled happily.
"Mr. Hussain, I agree with you! A toast to you." Melissa raised her glass.
She could drink.
Kenneth said, "I have something to deal with in the afternoon, so I can't drink."
"Then replace wine with water." Colby knew Kenneth's character.
Melissa offended him just now.
He didn't drive Melissa for the sake of Colby.
Kenneth didn't say anything.
Natalie filled Kenneth's glass with water.
"Miss Lama." Melissa narrowed her eyes. "Sorry, I didn't mean it. I'm here to apologize."
She held up her glass.
Natalie picked up her water and said, "I hope you'll pay attention next time."
"Wait." Melissa stared at Natalie's glass. "Is that water in yours? What's wrong? Don't you want to accept my apology?"
Colby coughed to remind Melissa.
Melissa was the daughter of the vice principal, and she was somewhat domineering.
Natalie replied calmly, "According to the regulations of company, I can't drink alcohol during work. If I violate the regulations, the company will fire me. At that time, will you support me?"
But Melissa insisted, "Mr. Hussain is here. He won't care."
"Are you his mind reader? Do you think it's up to you?" Natalie hated people like Melissa.
She didn't want to show too much respect either.
Melissa looked at Kenneth and said, "Mr. Hussain, to be honest, my father is the vice president of the Murkwell University."
She spoke out her identity directly.
She thought Kenneth would show some respect to her father.
Kenneth took Natalie's glass, poured the water directly on the floor, and then put down the glass, "So what?"
Melissa froze.
Colby stopped Melissa in a deep voice, "Melissa, stop it."
Melissa bit her lower lip tightly.
Colby frowned at Melissa, who had an exaggerated opinion of her abilities.
Did she know that Kenneth wasn't to be trifled with?
Kenneth had an aunt who worked in the General Education Bureau.
And her position was not low.
If Melissa continued to make a fuss, her father's position as the vice president would be lost.
He was doing it for Melissa's good.
But Melissa snorted.
Kenneth told Colby, "Mr. Palmer, it was originally agreed that we two would get together. Don't do this next time."
Colby was very embarrassed, "I just want them to gain more insight."
"It's just a light meal, so there's no insight to be gained. Moreover, someone still looks down on it." Kenneth looked cold.
Colby pressed his lips.
At this time, Natalie's cell phone rang. She told Kenneth, "Mr. Hussain, I'm going to answer a call."
Kenneth nodded.
Then, a man followed Natalie out.
"Mom?" Natalie stood in the corridor as she asked, "What's up?"
"The daughter of our neighbor, Janiya Sandoval, went blind somehow. They've seen a lot of doctors, but they couldn't treat her. So they decided to go to Murkwell. There are many hospitals and famous doctors over there." Gabriella Lama said.
"Do you mean Lynda?" Natalie and Lynda Sandoval grew up together.
Lynda failed to get into high school and went to a technical secondary school.
In the three years in high school, Natalie studied with undivided attention.
It was said that Lynda was dragged down after going to the technical secondary school.
Because it was not easy for Janiya to take care of Lynda lone, Gabriella often took care of them.
But gradually, Natalie and Lynda didn't contact each other very much.
"Yes." Gabriella said, "When I first got here, Janiya helped me a lot. We have to do our part in Lynda's matter. You work there, so arrange it if you have proper connections."
"Okay." Natalie nodded.
"OK. Then pick them up at the airport later." Gabriella said, "Janiya is not willing to spend money. How about you take them to your small apartment?"
"Mom, my apartment is too small, and it's inconvenient." Natalie thought for a moment and said, "If they really have no choice, how about I find them a house near the hospital?"
"That's fine. I'll give you the money." Gabriella said.
"Mom, no need." Natalie refused, "You make clothes every day, and your eyes are getting worse. You'd better have a good rest. I have savings."
"How can I let you pay?" Gabriella paused for a while and asked, "Nattie, are you enjoying yourself in the big city?"
Natalie replied, "I will be happy if you don't urge me to get married."
"I'm not urging you, but at least you should have a boyfriend." Gabriella scolded, "You say every day that you don't want to get married, but you should fall in love. Only when you have experienced can you say whether it is good or not."
"Mom, don't worry about it." Natalie had a headache.
"I'm your mother. I don't want you to be lonely all your life like me. This time, Karl will go with them too. You two have a good talk."
"Mom!!" Natalie was speechless.
Wasn't this a blind date in disguise? !
