As she watched Rose's egregious face, Elizabeth raised her chin and said, "Sorry, I forgot that you're ugly. If I'm your bridesmaid, I'm afraid no one will pay attention to the bride." Rose immediately reddened in rage. She was aware that she wasn't as gorgeous as Elizabeth was, but to be called ugly in such a blatant manner would make anyone feel bad. Did Elizabeth think too highly of her good looks? How could she be ugly? She thought she looked quite alright compared to the average woman. "What are you so proud of? You're beautiful, yet you fell in love with an ugly man." Rose gnashed her teeth and said, "You're blind for giving up on my brother for him!" Elizabeth sneered at her, "He's handsome." Rose had no words for Elizabeth. Was she completely blind? Not only did she have terrible taste, but her eyesight was just as bad. Rose was exasperated with her. She no longer wanted to bicker with Elizabeth, so she went straight in the opposite direction and returned to her fiancée's side.
