Loss of consciousness
Megan and her mother stayed at the hospital long after Mr. Devins had left. Megan’s mother was exaggerating the gravity of her injuries and forced the doctors to say that she needed to stay the night under their observation when, in fact, she was completely fine and able to live.
Her daughter had gone to bring them coffee and she came back with a wide smile on her face, handing one of the Starbucks cups to her mother.
“I just had a call with dad.” Megan said, a huge smile on her face.
Her mother looked at her with expectation, waiting to hear her next words:
“He told me all about his discussion with Scarlett and mom, it feels like I’m on a cloud right now. Dad is so pissed at her. He believes that she is the one who attacked you and asked her to apologize but she refused. Do you know what father did then?”
“What?”
“He cut her off. She’s not allowed at his house again and he will freeze all her credit cards until further notice. Isn’t it wonderful mom?”
