Scarlett arrived at the café a few minutes earlier than she’d expected. She was finding out a lot of things about herself lately and one of them was that she was a good walker. Her gym subscription was paying off, after all. Maybe she should be walking more often.
With those thoughts in mind, she passed through the glass doors and was immediately greeted by a young waitress who recognized her because Scarlett was a regular at the café. they exchanged a smile:
“Good morning, Miss Devins. Are you here for miss Hale?”
“Yes. Is she here already?”
“Yes, she is. Follow me.”
So Megan was early too. Scarlett followed the waitress to the back of the café where there were booths in which people could meet in private. The waitress showed which booth Megan was in and left after Scarlett thanked her. The young woman then walked to it and the closer she got, the more she doubted her decision to come here.
