Visit to the cemetary
The next day, Ryke and Scarlett woke up fully rested but with memories of last night’s conversation still anchored in their minds. They showered and both dressed in black before heading out.
His mother’s grave was one hour away from New York. Ryke didn’t call his driver and decided to take them there himself. Scarlett put on some light music and looked out of the window at the passing trees.
Ryke had to stop at a flower shop on the way. Scarlett walked in with him and smiled at the sweet scent inside the store. She asked:
“What was your mother’s favorite type of flowers?”
“Mmh...I believe she really liked gardenias. She even had them planted in our family home. What’s yours, babe?”
“Oh, I don’t really have a type. All flowers are beautiful to me.”
Ryke chuckled before kissing Scarlett’s cheek. Naturally, he decided to buy a large bouquet of gardenias for his mother. Just seeing them made his throat tight because they reminded him so much of his childhood and the sweet moments he’d spen
