Chapter 33 : Light Magic Vs. Dark Magic
*Mae*
Raveena struck first with a dark purple whip of lightning aimed for Mae's chest. Mae's eyes widened as she had her first taste of what Raveena could do. It wasn't like what her grandmother had taught her.
Mae ducked quickly behind the table and was showered with the debris falling from Raveena's smashed bookshelf. Something that had been in a jar boiled on the floor next to her, sinking through the wooden planks and down to the hard ground below. Mae swallowed hard.
She whipped her magic through her and knocked Raveena to her heels, quickly. Mae scrambled up and moved closer, guiding her magic with her, and launched Raveena toward the still boiling cauldron.
With a wave of her hand, Raveena set up a block, keeping her from burning in the fire. The cauldron and its contents, however, were spilled to the ground in a monstrous clatter. Raveena cackled wildly, and she pulled herself free of Mae's magical grasp.
