Chapter 20
"Taylor, if you keep me here too long, Louis will get angry. You know holding me here is pointless," Aurora said as she wiped her lips again.
"Doesn't matter. Right now, you're here."
Aurora looked down and chose not to respond. She felt there was nothing more she could say to him that would make any difference.
Taylor sighed but forced a calm smile. "Get some rest."
Aurora stayed silent, and Taylor seemed unfazed as if he had expected this reaction. He turned and left the room, the sound of the door closing followed by the click of the lock.
Outside, Taylor looked up at the bright sun. Somehow, the dim and melancholic moonlight seemed more fitting. As a breeze stirred, a few loose leaves fell from a tree and landed in a muddy puddle below.
