Small intentions, big implications
Adeline supported Chloe along the way to Marvin's room with a hotel attendant leading the way for them. The room was modestly opulent and grandiose. Judging from decorations of the room, it could be presumed that it belonged to a meticulous and attentive owner.
"Miss Simpson, if there's anything you need, feel free to ring room service!" The hotel attendant bowed slightly, closed the door, and left.
Adeline helped Chloe onto the sofa to sit down. She felt guilty and sorry looking at the palm print on Chloe's face.
She took out an ice bag and gently placed it on Chloe's cheeks.
"Ouchh..."
Chloe cried in pain and with tears welling up in her eyes.
Adeline felt disheartened. She continued placing the ice bag on Chloe's cheek while wiping off the blood at the corner of Chloe's lips with her other hand. Sniffing her nose, Adeline apologized, "Chloe, I'm sorry. It's all my fault!"
