In the meantime, Adeline had managed to soothe her coughing. So, when Alan handed her the glass, she didn't hesitate to pick it up and drank a few mouthfuls to ease her strained throat.
Then, she glared at Culver, and pursed her lips, "I wouldn't give you guys a second glance. You're both too distant and uptight. I prefer a man who is bright and laid-back."
Because Alan was sitting right beside Adeline, she couldn't help but notice Alan's eyes darkened when he heard her answer. She couldn't figure out what he was thinking.
Culver grinned impishly at Adeline and pressed, "But why?"
"Well, didn't you notice that I'm sitting so straight up like I'm being punished?" With that said, Adeline glanced at Alan next to her.
"Well then, maybe you should relax. We don't bite!" Culver pressed his lips together and teased.
Adeline rolled her eyes at him, ignoring his comment.
