Chapter 7 - Can't Find Her
"I keep expecting that one day you would love me. But I am wrong. I won’t be so silly anymore. I am begging you. Let the baby go. He will love you because you are his father."
Leslie struggled off the bed. She grabbed Christopher's thighs and begged him.
Christopher pinched her chin and said in a fierce way, "For me, this baby is not worth a dime. He doesn't deserve to born. "
"Please blame yourself! If this baby is not yours, he would have lived in peace. It is your own destiny."
His indifference shocked all nurses who had fawned over him previously.
The nurses never thought that he was a scum.
When the nurses saw how pathetic Leslie was, they couldn't help but plead for her, "Mr. Loomis, this is the first child for your wife. The baby is very important for her! And your wife is in poor health. If she has an abortion, she may not be able to have any baby in the future."
"Is Loomis’ investment into the hospital for you to gossip?"
Christopher was like a tyrant. Every word he said carried a chilling aura.
The young nurses were all have their own family. It was so difficult to find another work. If they offended the boss and lost their job, how could they find a hospital with better benefits?
There was an awkward silence as they could not save Leslie. Christopher dragged her onto the operating table directly without a second thought.
She cried out, but the patients in the corridor all chosen to ignore.
"If her baby isn’t aborted today, you all would get the hell out of here." Christopher threatened the crowd unapologetically.
The doctors looked at each other for a few moments but they could only sigh. Doctors were good at saving lives. But now they are asked to kill people. They had no choice but hide their thoughts.
Christopher's cell phone rang while Leslie was entering the operating table. An emergency meeting would be held today. All the people in the company have already attended the conference room.
Christopher glanced up at the door of the surgery. Then he left with a sympathetic look.
Leslie, your baby was to atonement. Christopher rushed to the Loomis' Group.
In the operating room, Leslie did not give up.
She grabbed the doctor's hands, begging him. "Doctor, please let me go. I will give you enough money. I'm begging you. I can't live without this baby."
"I'm in a dilemma. Understand?"
Her eyes were red with weeping. Tears couldn't stop falling from her eyes.
The doctor brushed Leslie's hand away and sighed.
"Mrs. Loomis, I'm not a hard-hearted person. But we cannot give birth to this baby. You know what title Mr. Loomis have in the city. A cold-faced devil! If I let you go, our whole hospital will be in danger."
Leslie cried with her hands over her face, "Doctor, don't you have a baby? Don't you know how important a child is to his mother?"
Her words brought the doctor up short. He remembered his son who was alive.
His son was killed by his patient. As he held his son's cold body, his world collapsed.
Finally he casted a significant smile to her and said, "I'm going to the bathroom. I didn't tell you that there is a side door on the left of this floor. The exit of the side door out is Fairview Avenue. You can avoid the traffic at the main entrance there."
The doctor t walked out of the operating room after telling this.
Leslie said thanks in her heart. Then she fled from the operating room quickly.
Dodging the crowds, she got off the elevator through the side door. Finally she ran out of the hospital.
After a while, Christopher received the news that Leslie ran out of the hospital.
"Go to find her quickly! The baby must die!"
Christopher’s meeting did not continue. He was too angry to throw out all the files.
All the executives in the meeting room sat speechless.
Leslie hadn't gone far before she heard the sound of footsteps coming from behind. She was so frightened that she hid behind a huge trash box.
Those footsteps stopped in front of the trash box.
"According to the surveillance, Mrs. Loomis came this way. Why we can't find anyone? Search the next street again. We must get Mrs. Loomis back. Or the boss will be angry. We'll be punished if we can't find her."
As the footsteps faded away, Leslie sat helplessly on the ground.
Why did Christopher refuse to give her a way out?
Suddenly there was a rumbling sound from her stomach.
She remembered that she ate nothing today.
She was penniless now. She cannot return to home. She needed to eat, or the baby would be hungry. But she didn't have a dime on her.
It was raining too heavy. The pedestrians on the road walked in a hurry. No one paid attention to her. After a while, Leslie felt stomachache.
