Chapter 4 Am I chosen?
Then Cody leads his guards to get the five girls. I feel so scared because the guards are the ones who beat me just now. But this time they behave pretty well. I hope I am not chosen, but things always go against my will. After praying for a few minutes, I am held up by the two guards. As I expected, Betty is held up too. And I notice that my neighbor Megan is held up too. I am not very familiar with her, but with two people I know accompanying me, I feel better in some way. The guards tie our hands behind our backs tightly with ropes. I can feel the bruises forming. I think if I get so much pain here in the ceremony, I will suffer more if I become Cody's slave.
The road is bumpy. I heard before that the place where werewolves lived always had bumpy roads. Werewolves can run fast on this kind of road, but humans can not. So no one can escape from werewolves. We, five girls, were put in a small car. The car was so small that we always hit our heads against each other on this bumpy road. As I hit my head, I think, I never expected the ceremony would be so painful. I do not want to imagine what pain I will go through if I am chosen.
We finally reach the alpha's palace. We are dragged out of the car like cheap toys. We are taken inside the palace and put in an empty room. This and your room is called empty because there is no furniture inside. It is said to be a slave room where the slaves can have a rest when their owners do not want the slave to be near them. We are told to stand in line and wait for Cody to come in.
After some time, Cody comes. He stands in front of us inspecting us carefully, just like what he did in the ceremony, but more carefully. After a few minutes, he uses his long nails to cut a girl's dress open and lets the dress fall to the ground. The girl is almost naked, only in her undergarment. Then he goes to all of us and does the same thing. I do not know why, maybe because of fear, but they keep silent as if nothing has happened.
I am the last one. I try to behave like them, calm and quiet. But I can not. How can I endure being ripped in front of so many people, girls, and werewolves? When Cody walks toward me, I look up and look him in the eye again. When I see his eyes filled with rage, I suddenly realize that I shouldn’t look him in the eye.
Cody yells, “How dare you look me in the eye again?” He quickly rips my dress open and asks a couple of guards to hit me with a whip. It happens all too quickly, so I have not told him not to rip my dress. I can only stand there, almost naked, and being beaten by the guards. I can feel myself bleeding. Bruises are forming all over my body. I beg, “Please. Please do not hurt me. I will not do it again. I will not look you in the eye.” However, Cody ignores me. I am a little angry, but mostly because of the pain. I shout, “ Cody, let them stop. I said I would not do it again. Why do you still do this to me?”
I hear girls gasp when I suddenly realize that I make an even more severe mistake. How can I call him by his name? Humans are only humble creatures for werewolves. Even ordinary werewolves cannot be called names by ordinary humans. How can a future alpha be called by his name? I close my eyes in fear. I know I will die soon.
“Stop.“ Cody walks toward me. All the guards stop, but they seem to be laughing and waiting for some interesting things to happen. “Never call me by my name ever. You should call me master. Understand?” Cody yells. I nod in response. He yanks me up by my hair to make me stand up and leave. Everyone, including me, is surprised. I thought I would die miserably and others may think the same. Why did Cody let go of me so easily?
Not long after, the future Belta, Bruce Atton Comes out. He announces, “Mr. Stark wants to see you all individually. You will be invited to his office.” He is a handsome man, in a black suit. He looks professional and kind. I notice that he deliberately walks past Betty and says in a low voice, “Easy.” I wonder why he does it. I want to ask Betty, but there are too many werewolves around. I am afraid of being beaten again.
But maybe because I am looking at them too seriously, suddenly a werewolf hit me with his whip. I scream subconsciously. Several werewolves laugh when they hear me scream in pain. They come to hit me together for no reason as if it is a funny game. I can feel my body bleeding. I can see the blood on the ground and soon I can not even see my blood on the ground because even my head hurts. My blood covers my eyes. I can hardly see anything, even the werewolves who are beating me. I scream, “No, it hurts. Do not beat me like this.” One of the werewolves says, “ OK, I agree. I will stop beating you as you wish, and I will give you something enjoyable.”
