Steven came home to the sight of Grace in a thin nightdress, utterly drenched. She was curled up in a corner with red scratch marks across her hands and legs.
He quickly turned off the tap and draped the bathrobe around her shoulders to protect her modesty under the translucent outfit.
"You alright?" His booming voice sounded soft to her.
It took her a while to gather herself. Looking up at him with pale lips, she mumbled, "I'm fine."
"I'll get you to the hospital." He bent over to lift her into his arms, but she flinched.
She bit her lip hard. "No. Every single hospital in Taseville runs on the goodwill of the Kents. Elijah now knows I'm back. If he finds out that I took drugs, he'll certainly tell Luther about it! And if Luther learns that I tried to spike his drink, he'll never let me come near him…" Grace explained while gasping heavily.
