Game Over
Kaia tried to stay away, but the sled was moving so fast that the inertia forced her body to lean backwards, narrowing the distance between herself and Miles.
She felt that her heart was beating violently. Was it because of the thrill the sled brought her, or the man sitting behind her?
As the sled approached the bottom of the hill, it finally stopped.
She wondered if Miles had noticed her oddity. He probably didn't.
They went on for three more slides. Kaia was so ecstatic for the ride that she couldn't stop laughing.
In between the intense wind and snow that blew on her and her chirpy laughter, she seemed to have heard the laughter behind her.
He should also be having a great time.
Suddenly, he spat out a mouthful of blood that sprayed onto the pure white snow, creating a distinctive contrast.
Her heart ached. "Sir!"
"Shush. Leave me alone and don't make a sound." He stayed still, the snowflakes falling gently on his body.
When she saw his calm eyes, she felt inexplicably sorrowful.
