Chapter 5
Mae ran out of the cabin and stood on the deck. The cold sea breeze made her calm down.
An angry twisted face approached from her back.
It's president Zhao.
"Miss Ye, what's the matter with you? You can't even serve a man well. Do you know that Mr. Mu has canceled all cooperation projects with our company now? What on earth have you done to annoy him? Go and apologize to him right away!"
Although Mae guessed that President Zhao had pushed her to Mark, he could not help but blankly stare at president Zhao when he heard him admit it.
"Mr. Zhao, what do you take me for?" She asks, “Serve Mark Mu? I’m not Public Relations! And I’m not a prostitute!”
President Zhao flashed a touch of a guilty face, he chokes his neck, and yells, "Mr. Mu has taken a fancy to you. We have been cultivating you for years! If it wasn't for your beauty, would I make you Deputy Director? Not only did you offend Mr. Mu, but you are also implicating the whole company! "
Her body trembled in heated anger. She finds President Zhao’s eyes unbearable.
She took out her work I.D. from her bag and smacks it president Zhao’s shiny bald head. "Well, I’m not going to do it!"
President Zhao is confused as the card flops on the deck.
“This woman-”
Mae turns her head and walks away. She can still hear Zhao's angry scolding.
At night, Mae came home and she had a nightmare.
She dreamed that she was trapped in a mental hospital again, engulfed by endless flames. She watches as her baby who had just been born by C-section dies in the sea of fire, the baby’s cries becoming weaker and weaker.
No matter how hard she cries, it didn't help.
Waking up from the nightmare, her clothes soaked cold sweat from her warm back.
On a sleepless night, she sat in bed dazed, her heart filled with bitterness.
“If my child didn't die, would she be three or four years old? Is it a he? Or a girl? A boy. He must be as lovely as Chris’ son, right?” Her mind filled with endless imaginations.
Fate, however, did not give her a chance to be a mother.
The next day, Mae had a bad cold. She went to the hospital to get medicine for her dizzy head.
She just took the medicine and turned around the corner of the corridor. Suddenly, a crisp and tender voice came from behind.
"Mommy, Mommy..."
Mae didn't pay attention at first but continued to move on.
But as she walked, she felt her calf being held by someone. She couldn't move her leg. She turned her head and looked down at her feet. A three or four-year-old child was holding her.
"Mommy, why don't you want me?" The little guy is wearing a gray shirt, black shorts, and a pair of clear dark wide eyes.
“Is this Christian's son?”
Mae looks around and finds no sign of Christian. She squeezes out a smile and squats down, "Little boy, you recognize the wrong person. I'm not your mommy."
She tried to release the boy from her.
Although the kid is small, he has great strength and he won't let go.
"No. You're my mommy!" The boy purses his lips, like a little wretch who had been abandoned.
Mae was afraid of hurting the little guy, so she had to face him coldly, "If you don't let go, auntie will be angry."
The boy forces Mae to seemingly act coquettishly, which attracts a couple of passers-by's attention.
"Woo woo, Mommy doesn't want the baby.”
“Don't abandon your child…"
“Look, the boy won't let go. He found mummy with such difficulty.”
A bold passer-by stood up and leaned over indignantly. "Ma'am, your son is so lovely. How can you not have him? Abandoning your child is illegal in this country!"
Mae blushed red. "Sir, you are wrong. I am not his mother. And I would never abandon my own child. Sir, I am not-"
"But I saw it all. You kissed daddy in the boat! You are my mommy, but why don't you want me?" Xian stares up at Mae stubbornly.
Her eyes widened, her dizzy head wakes up, and her long thin eyelashes flickered in shock.
