Upon hearing the bitterness in Nina's words, Shane closed his eyes briefly. He let go of her without answering her question, only saying coldly, "Don't go anywhere. Just stay here and behave yourself."
He would take care of everything else. As she watched him stride out of the room, Nina's gaze was dazed for a moment before her lips curved into a hollow, humorless smile. So he wanted her to sit here and wait for death, didn't he?

That night, someone else came to her room. This time, it was Wendy. Wendy stared at Nina with a gaze that sent chills crawling down her spine.
It seemed that ever since Yvan's accident, something in Wendy had shifted—there was now a sharp, sinister edge to her that hadn't been there before. She looked at Nina like a venomous snake in the shadows, its blood-red tongue flicking out as it prepared to strike. She grabbed a decorative ornament from a nearby shelf and hurled it at Nina.
