CHAPTER 94: UNMASKING THE BETRAYER
"Mrs. Cecilia, we've got information."
The investigator's voice was low, almost a whisper, as if he feared the walls had ears. Cecilia Anderson's blue eyes narrowed, and the tension in the air around her was palpable. She crossed her arms, her posture rigid, leaning against the oak desk in her office.
Her husband, Paul Ruediger, sat in a leather chair nearby, his eyes tracking the investigator's every movement.
"What kind of problem?" Cecilia asked, her voice calm but laced with a tension that she tried to suppress. Her fingers dug into her arm, nails scraping against the fabric of her blazer.
The investigator, a thin man with a face hardened by years of unearthing secrets, shifted uneasily on his feet. He cleared his throat, his Adam's apple bobbing before he spoke.
"Veronica. She's been leaving the hospital at night. Always with a man. He's hooded, but I've managed to tail them a few times. They're meeting in secluded places."
