Marcelo, however, remained stoic, feigning sleep as he leaned back. Secretly, he was acutely aware of every single touch and he tried his best to act unaffected.
Renee, in her mind, didn't think she was entirely wrong for leaving without consulting Marcelo. Firstly, her hasty exit was understandable given her mood. Secondly, she pondered that Marcelo might have preferred her to leave so he could stay longer at Vivian’s party.
The real issue was her abrupt return, awkwardly asking if he was leaving as well.
Had he chosen to stay, perhaps she would be the one upset now.
But Marcelo’s immediate departure, souring Vivian’s mood,really pleased Renee. Happy with this outcome, she felt inclined to placate him.
As the Phantom rolled to a stop at the main porch of the house, Marcelo exited the car first, with Renee following closely behind.
