Chapter 8
Suzy originally thought that she was just taking care of her body in the hospital, but she didn't expect that she would stay in this hospital for more than half a month.
Even if she feels that there is nothing wrong with her body but with just a little bit of weakness, for some reason, Max resolutely forbids her to leave the hospital. Until she is really depressed and panicked and her complexion got worse every day, Max can't help it and finally let her be discharged.
On the day she was discharged from the hospital, Dr. Lu called Max over and talked for a long time. He didn't know what they're talking about, but when Max came out, his expression could not be dignified.
"Dr. Lu said that my body is still very weak and I should stay longer, right?"
She had already packed her things. Suzy looked at him with a light smile because she was going to be discharged from the hospital that day, so her cheeks were a little rosier than usual.
"Do you know it again?", Max also smiled but smiled reluctantly.
"Doctors have those routines. The last two times I was hospitalized, he said the same. I didn't have anything." Shrugging, she blinked her eyes playfully. "Staying here for a few more days or just add one more day, then it'll add to the big amount of medical expenses! Besides, it is rare for the hospital to encounter a gracious guest like you, so I can't kill more."
Regarding medical expenses, Max is really generous. He paid a deposit of 15,280.00 US Dollar for the hospitalization plus a list of daily expenses which is not even accurate. As long as it is good for her, he will do it.
Suzy was very grateful for this and she knew that it would be difficult for her to repay him.
Max had such a moment of being lost.
He doesn't remember how long he hasn't seen such a cute and playful Suzy again. Once, she was such a lively and cute little girl. Her eyes always crooked when she laughed and occasionally, she would mischievously do some harmless pranks and then winked at you.
"Hey, what do you think?"
A hand swayed in front of his eyes and Max came back to his senses. "I'm wondering which cost more, is it the cost of hospitalization is or the price of food that you will eat after leaving the hospital?"
"It's too late to regret now!", she jokingly said. She then turned around to get the packed bag and lowered her eyes to cover the loss.
She now has nowhere to go. Max is the last resort and the best choice. He has never been in the hospital these days. He must hate her.
Otherwise, why wouldn't even their bones and blood be kept? Thinking of this, the lower abdomen seems to still have sharp pain.
"Should we wait for Ramona?" He took the bag away from her hand easily and helped her do anything. He seemed to be so natural.
"She called me. Recently, she has something to deal with. When she finishes it, she will come back to us."
"The barrister is really busy!" Max nodded and said, "Then... let's go!"
"Yeah.", she replied. She got up and looked at the medical record card on the bedside again with hesitation.
She doesn't know what she is still expecting. She hasn't been here for so long. Is she still hoping for a miracle?
"What's happening?"
Suzy shook her head and replied, "No, nothing. Let's go!"
——
Standing in front of the transparent floor-to-ceiling windows on the 66th floor of Central Park building, the highest building in the city, you can almost overlook the entire city.
Jeric is standing there at the moment and he has been standing for more than an hour.
The figure is standing still, but only he himself knows that his mind is upset and impetuous. The silence in the house and the noise outside are like him at this moment, contradictory and difficult to control.
These days, he seems to have lost his soul. When the meeting starts, he is distracted, and his subordinates come to report for work. He is also absent-minded. The most hateful thing is that even the secretary brought the contract which he needs to sign, all he thinks about is Suzy.
Suzy! Suzy!
Even if this woman is gone and disappeared in his world, she left a mark and refuses to let him go!
The fingers gradually tightened and clenched into a fist. His knuckles were bluish-white because of too much force.
"Mr. Jones." The secretary knocked on the door and came in. "The meeting is about to begin. We'll wait for you..."
"Cancel!" Heidi, the secretary, turned around. Jeric strode out of the door and took his jacket. "Cancel everything in the afternoon and tell the driver to prepare the car. I want to go out!"
