Chapter 1
It was a cold night.
Suzy was holding a hot electric iron in her hand, but her fingers were cold.
She pressed the iron on the plain shirt to remove the creases. She has been doing this thousands of times in the past three years, and she can no longer be proficient in her proficiency.
She raised her eyes and saw that it was almost twelve o’clock. She sighed lightly, ironed the last shirt, and put the signed divorce agreement on the top. She didn't change anything in the house. She just put the plain wedding ring on her finger.
This ring is not worth much money without a diamond. But because it is the only thing Jeric gave her, she has always cherished it because it has now become his only remembrance.
When she was about to go out, footsteps were heard outside the door. Before she could be surprised, she heard the woman's voice first, "Jeric, it's really fortunate to have you. I don't know how to thank you. If it weren't for you, I would have been homeless. Suzy shouldn't mind me, should she?"
"She doesn’t have the right."
That cold voice penetrated through the door panel and pierced straight into her heart.
Suzy held the wall with one hand and the cold wall made her cold fingertips even colder.
Doesn’t she have the right?
She is his wife. They've been married for three years, but it felt like it's more than a thousand days and nights. Even if there is no affection, at least there should be some tender family affection. But for him, she is not even as good as a passerby.
"Hey, don't say that. You are already married."
As the door opened, the woman's voice became a little louder. It's Beatrice, her deceased sister's best friend.
With indifferent eyes, the gaze ran across her like a knife. Suzy felt stiff and almost unable to stand.
"What are you doing here?" He was especially contemptuous as he threw the key on the cabinet beside her and walked directly past her.
He's tall. And when he passed by her, he was in sharp contrast with her. He was like a vigorous pine, but she's not even a creeping dodder. It was always like that when she's beside him; humble and insignificant.
"Suzy, I don't think you’re not in a good mood. Don't get me wrong, he just took me..."
"No need to explain to her." He took off his jacket and threw it on the sofa. He turned around and frowned with impatience, "What are you doing again?!"
"I have already signed the divorce agreement. When you have time, sign it. Three years is enough. I am tired.", she said. She lowered her eyes and didn't dare to face him.
"Divorce?!" Beatrice exclaimed. A pair of teary eyes turned back and forth between the two. She then stepped forward to take Suzy's arm and said, "Suzy, what's with the divorce!? I heard that you just got married. It's easy to think about miscarriage, but please don't think about it. If your sister were still here, she would be hurt to see you like this. Your sister used to love you the most...Oh!"
"You don't have to be kind!" Suzy pulled out her arm with a force that staggered Beatrice back.
Jeric held her waist from behind and looked at Suzy angrily.
Beatrice covered her lips, "I'm sorry Jeric. I didn't mean to mention Xia on purpose..."
"There's nothing wrong about it!" He then released his hand and strode towards Suzy with a terrifying aura, forcing her to retreat irrevocably, "How dare you! She didn’t say anything wrong!"
