Chapter 17 Beautiful Mummy
In her room, Lyla showered first before she took to the bed. With her laptop at her side, she sat at the side of the bed and started to think about something.
Finally, she opened a browser and typed the words, “Mark Pattinson,” on the search bar.
She stared at the two words, thinking for a very long time before she finally hit “enter”. What surprised her next was the countless entries about him. There were pictures and most of them were Mark Pattinson with women.
She skimmed through the pictures with increasing discomfort. All the women appearing in pictures with Mark Pattinson were not the same woman. A quick count results in more than ten or twenty of them.
Moreover, each and every woman was beautiful, sexy.
She did a quick google search and found out most of the news about Mark spoke of his success in the industry. The rest were gossip articles. To say that the news was being straightforward was not wrong as there were only two kinds of news about Mark.
As she read more and more, her mind started to think about something. She could not help but compare Hansel’s face to Mark’s. They were just so similar that one could not help but think about that night…
Her mind recalled the events of that night. In all honesty, neither of them knew each other. Neither of them met before. And just like that, something happened…
At that moment, she thought of something. That night, in that hotel, there must have been some form of records if Mark Pattinson had been there.
But it has been over six years! Could they still keep the records?
‘I don’t think it’s possible…’
She wanted to know. She wanted to know if Mark Pattinson was indeed the father. If he was, she could choose to leave forever, never to be discovered by Mark.
If he wasn’t, good. She could at least be at ease, working there.
She thought about it for a while and still could not come to a decision. Even so, in the end, she decided to pay the hotel a visit. If they kept the records, it would be best if he was not in them…
The morning of the following day, Lyla was in the kitchen busy making breakfast.
The rest included the usual routine; her two children woke up. Gretel’s morning hair was dishevelled when she was still rubbing her sleepy eyes as she walked out of her room. When she saw her elder brother, Hansel, she winked at him and smiled. Hansel’s face twitched in response.
Everything they did was seen by Lyla as she set the table with plates.
‘What are they doing?’
Hansel and Gretel had their bath and sat at the table waiting for their mother and uncle to arrive before they started to eat. It was basic manners. Even though they were very young, they were still very well-cultured. They would wait, no matter how hungry they were.
When the entire table finished breakfast, Lyla carried both the children’s bag and called for them, “Hansel, Gretel, come! I’ll send you to school.”
“Mummy, wait!” cried Gretel as she ran over to her wardrobe.
She got worried when she looked through the clothes hanging inside.
“Hans! Come help mummy pick out her clothes!” Gretel cried out and gestures invitingly to her brother.
Hansel selected a short, knee-length, pinked dress from all the clothes.
“This is the one! Mummy has always been wearing old fashion clothes! This colour suits you more!”
The two children’s opinions had reached the epitome of good selection.
Gretel pushed her mother to change her clothes.
Lyla felt distraught. Since when did her little darling become her personal fashion advisor?
After she got into the dress which she only put on to satisfy Gretel, everyone present was surprised.
Lyle Lowe had always known that her younger sister was a beautiful woman but over the past two years, for the sake of those two children, for the sake of living, she had never truly gotten dressed for any occasion.
“Oh my! Mummy is so beautiful!” cried Gretel, eyes widened, looking at her brother.
Hansel nodded.
“Mhm! One can never tell that mummy is a mummy!”
Lyla purposely ignored their flattering and sent them off to class.
