Chapter 8
Eleanor quickly scanned her surroundings, ensuring no wind or rustling grass. Once certain, she relaxed. It seemed likely that Pudding had sneaked out while Robert wasn't home. After all, how could someone as meticulous as Robert let his treasured cat roam freely?
The Williams Court was equipped with a one-way optical film on its glass windows, installed by Robert. The interior was invisible from the outside, while those inside had a clear exterior view. Unbeknownst to her, Eleanor was under Robert’s watchful eye.
"Sir, do we need to worry about this?"
Jacob inquired, standing beside the distinguished man.
"Don't worry,"
Robert replied, his mood buoyed by the sight of the two figures enjoying themselves.
"But sir, Pudding has always been aloof. It’s the first time I've seen it so close to anyone other than you. The Williams Court has never hosted an outsider. It's unusual for this woman to appear here suddenly. Moreover, there’s been no activity in the past two years. You need to be cautious."
"And there's a surveillance operative trailing her... I wonder if she’s aware of it," Jacob added.
Robert’s lips curled into a subtle smile as he gazed thoughtfully at the retreating figure.
"Investigate her."
"Yes, Fourth Master,"
Jacob nodded respectfully and departed. Eleanor was well aware of the surveillance operative following her. Ever since she left the Hampton family, the operative had been a constant presence. She had almost forgotten about it after leaving the Joy Club, thinking now, Robert’s obsession had diverted her attention.
To avoid trouble for Robert, she pretended to be passing by and was momentarily distracted by the kitten before moving on. Watching the sneaky figure behind her, Eleanor smirked. Some people just couldn’t hide their true intentions.
As Eleanor’s figure shrank into the distance, Robert’s attention was drawn back by a call from Jacob.
"Master, that woman is the eldest daughter of the Hampton family, recently reunited with them."
"Oh? The Hampton family?"
Robert raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
A girl who had just arrived in Chicago had coincidentally shown up at the Williams Court?
"And the surveillance operative?"
"The surveillance operative is also from the Hampton family. It could be a typical rivalry between women. However, in the photos taken by the surveillance operative, there’s one of Miss Hampton and Young Master Luciano looking quite close. Miss Hampton is more than just a wild girl."
Robert however, couldn’t dismiss the coincidence of her appearance.
"Did the surveillance operative capture her coming to Williams Court?"
"Master, rest assured. The surveillance operative is focused solely on Miss Hampton and Young Master Luciano. He didn’t capture us. I believe Miss Hampton was just passing by. Should we handle the surveillance operative?"
"No need. As long as we aren’t involved, let them fight their battles. It has nothing to do with us."
His red lips parted slightly, his expression flickered between light and shadow.
"Keep an eye on that woman. Assign someone to monitor her."
