Those deep, narrow eyes were half-closed, revealing only the long sweep of his dark eyelashes.
Jacob stood quietly in the dimly lit bedroom, his gaze fixed on the man lying motionless on the bed. This was the first time he had ever seen Robert in such a vulnerable state.
The once formidable Fourth Master now seemed like a withering tree, slowly drained of life, exuding an air of decay. The room was so still that the only sound was Jacob’s breathing. Robert’s breaths were so faint, so imperceptible, that an unknowing onlooker might have mistaken him for a lifeless body rather than a sleeping man.
Jacob furrowed his brows, his expression darkening as he let out a nearly inaudible sigh. Since returning home, Robert had spoken no words, and taken no actions. He had merely stepped into his bedroom, removed his suit jacket, and collapsed onto the bed.
Jacob had followed, intending to speak, but upon witnessing the scene, he had remained silent.
