Chapter 53

I had a terrible nightmare that lasted all night. I woke up feeling awful. I was dizzy and had a pounding headache. I just felt terrible overall. I stumbled through my morning routine, changed into a fresh set and clothes, and grabbed my bag. I was about to leave when Brenda, who was sitting on the bed, called out, "Where are you going, Eve?" "I'm going to class." I turned around and was surprised to see them still in pajamas. "It's almost 9:00 a.m.! Why are you girls still in bed? Aren't you worried about being late?" Sharon and Brenda exchanged amused glances and looked at me with a twinkle in their eyes. Brenda slipped into her slippers, hurried over to me, and felt my forehead. "Hmm… you're not running a fever." "It's the weekend, Evelyn," Sharon added. I froze for a moment before realizing that they were right.
