Chapter 15 I Owe You One
I had yet to say a word, but Jeremiah and Jack were already so eager to label me as unfaithful. This was a rare moment of unity between them.
Before I could speak, Eric chuckled coldly and voiced what exactly was on my mind, "When Jane was pushed down the stairs, you all failed to notice and care for her. I had just reached out to steady her, yet you're this eager to throw accusations around. Anyone would think she's your enemy from the way you're acting.
"It must be tough on her to be family with people as blind and heartless as you all are." Eric glanced at me with eyes full of sympathy.
I chuckled softly. His sharp tongue would never disappoint.
Sure enough, his words rendered the others silent. Elsa's expression turned especially sour. She forced a smile and hastily explained, "I didn't mean to push Jane. I just lost my footing; it was just an accident."
She could barely get through a complete sentence before her eyes reddened. She looked pitifully wronged.
