It started to rain outside, and it was colder than when it snowed.
A cold breeze blew from all directions, and it was cold enough to chill one's bones.
Mayra stared at the two packs of cigarettes and glanced at Brandon. "Is this how you treated Serena as well?" She smiled and took the cigarettes from his hands. "Thanks for delivering cigarettes in the rain. You can go now."
Water dripped from his hair, and he had completely lost his usual fierceness. He looked broken and vulnerable like a lost puppy. This was a side of him that most people hadn't seen.
Mayra could be cold-hearted, even more so than she imagined herself to be. She closed the door and gazed at it. She didn't hear any footsteps. Brandon only left after a while.
Mayra stood by the window and watched as Brandon stepped out of the building. He stepped into the rain with his hands in his pocket. He walked under the streetlights, and she watched calmly as he left.
