This wasn't her home. Mayra lost her home a long time ago.
She adjusted her emotions and sat before her desk to work on her homework and mock papers. After completing two sets of mock papers, she glanced at the time and noticed it was already 9:30 pm.
When she set her pen down and prepared to rest, someone knocked on her door.
"Ms. Sadler, Mr. Barlow asks if you'd like supper."
"No, thank you. I'm not hungry." Mayra glanced at the bread next to her. She hadn't finished it because it tasted too sweet. Her stomach rumbled, but thankfully, Helen didn't hear her.
"I'll put the supper in a thermal box, then. You can have it whenever you feel like it," Helen said.
"Alright," she said.
Helen sighed and shook her head with resignation before heading downstairs.
Anderson looked up and asked, "Where is she?"
