Chapter 206
Mayra was left with no choice. After changing her clothes, she put on a jacket and dragged her feet downstairs. When she was on the first-floor staircase landing, she could see through the full windows in the living room that Hailey was kneeling outside, pleading for something.
Anderson was dressed in dark-colored casual homewear. At the sounds of footsteps coming downstairs, he set the newspapers in his hands aside and stood up without a care for Hailey outside. "What are you looking at? Come and have breakfast."
His voice jerked Mayra out of her daze, and she hurriedly took a seat at the dining table.
"Close the curtains," Anderson instructed, and a maid carried out his order.
The crystal light hanging from the ceiling was very bright, and Mayra lowered her head. Her long lashes fluttered, and her face was pale. She seemed more frail than usual, which also made Anderson want to protect her even more.
Anderson shoved some food in front of her. "Did you not sleep well last night?"
