Chapter 130
"Even if I don't marry her, what can you do about it?"
Anderson glanced at his watch before striding over to Sonia, his eyes sharp. "Times have changed. Arranged marriages mean nothing to me now. Do you think I'll care if the Fisher family calls off the engagement?
"What I need is an obedient and understanding Mrs. Barlow. Isabel might have grown up with me, but if she can't behave, there are plenty of others who know how to be a good Mrs. Barlow."
To Anderson, relationships were not essential. Isabel was beautiful, but his peace of mind was more important.
Sonia's voice turned stern. "Are you defying me?"
"I'm not defying you, I'm just stating a fact. In Belchester, there's more than just one Isabel." With that, Anderson put his hand in his pocket and left the office.
Sonia was enraged and repeatedly hit her cane on the floor. "You ungrateful bastard! Are you trying to be a heartless scoundrel? Isa has been waiting for you for 12 years, and now, you want to abandon her?"
