In a daze, Hailey felt as if she were floating in a vast ocean, her body burning with feverish desire. The cold water slowly calmed the fire within her. Her torn clothes might as well have been nonexistent.
She lay weakly on the edge of the bathtub, and droplets of blood from her forehead had stained the tiles.
"I was preparing a late-night snack for Ms. Sadler. But when I went to her room to call her, she wasn't there. I was just about to look for her when you returned," replied Ms. Sadler.

Julia nodded quickly. "Yes, Mr. Barlow."
