“Shit Jennie. You might just have ended my bloodline.” Jacob says groaning in pain and holding on to his crotch for dear life.
I couldn't help but roll my eyes at Jacob's dramatic comment. "Oh, come on, Jacob, it's not like I used a battering ram!"
He winced but tried to maintain a sense of humor. "Well, it sure felt like it."
Our banter was laced with tension, but it had an underlying thread of something more. However, as quickly as the moment had sparked between us, I decided I'd had enough. With a sigh, I muttered, "Goodnight," and turned away, not giving him the satisfaction of any more of my attention.
