28. An Unconventional Wedding Tale
The next morning, I awoke to the gentle sunlight streaming in through the windows. My heart skipped a beat as I realized that Jacob hadn't caused any harm during the night. I was still very much alive, and the house remained intact.
But then, a thought struck me like a lightning bolt – had Jacob left? Strangely, the idea of him departing left a sense of sadness gnawing at me.
I ventured downstairs and discovered Jacob busy in the kitchen, preparing a simple breakfast of toast, juice, and eggs. The sight tugged at my heartstrings, reminding me of my mother. She had always been the one to lovingly prepare my meals, and being in my childhood home made me ache with longing for her.
Jacob approached me with a warm smile, saying, "You're up," but I was so lost in my reverie that his voice didn't reach me. He stepped closer, his presence engulfing my thoughts. With a gentle snap of his fingers right in front of my face, he managed to pull me from my wistful memories.
