Chapter 5: Targeted

Apart from conducting experiments in the laboratory, Viennel also needed to attend some courses arranged by the school. She needed to earn extra credits, and it was her choice because she wanted to learn more. St. Leon's University allowed students to audit classes as long as they didn't disturb others. Viennel liked auditing because it allowed her to learn a wider range of knowledge beyond her major. After finishing the morning experiment, Viennel reported to Professor Susan and planned to attend a class taught by a professor she really liked. Professor Susan agreed, but she also asked Viennel to come back after the class because there were experiments to be done in the afternoon. Viennel took her organized materials to the class. It was an Economics and Trade class. In today's world, economics and trade were very hot topics, and economic globalization was inevitable. There were many auditors in today's class. Viennel arrived early, so she got a seat. Just after she sat down, a familiar figure appeared in her sight. It was Matilda. Viennel didn't expect her to attend this class too, but she thought it was normal because Matilda's family business was related to international trade. She must be here to prepare for the future. "Wow, why are there so many people in class today?" the girl on Matilda's right complained, "I hate it, there are so many people, and the smell is terrible." The girl on Matilda's left also grumbled, "It's annoying. I don't even want to come to this class. We can't learn anything, just listen to the old professor bragging. It's so annoying." If it weren't for Matilda coming to class, they wouldn't have come either. After hearing their complaints, Matilda frowned and said, "I didn't ask you to choose this class. If you don't want to attend, you can go to the bar and have a few drinks." The girl on the left immediately put on a smiley face and said, "Attending class is definitely more important than drinking! Matilda, don't be angry, we'll definitely accompany you." Matilda enjoyed being surrounded, so she didn't actually drive these two followers away. She walked to the middle of the room to her usual seat, but today, someone was already sitting there. Viennel looked up at Matilda and found her looking back, with a fierce gleam in her eyes. Viennel avoided her gaze and looked down at her materials. "Who let you sit there?" the girl on Matilda's left loudly questioned, "That's Matilda's exclusive seat. She always sits there when she comes to class!" This seat was neither front nor back. Sitting here not only allowed you to hear what the teacher was saying but also offered a view outside. It was indeed a good spot. But now it was occupied by Viennel. There was no such thing as an "exclusive seat" in the classroom. It was first come, first served. Viennel arrived first, so she could sit wherever there was a seat. And if she didn't sit down, she would have to stand here for two hours. The seats in the classroom were already full, and even if Viennel wanted to give a seat to Matilda, she couldn't. Besides, she didn't want to give up her seat anyway. "What are you saying?" Viennel asked with a tilt of her head, "I don't understand." The other girl with Matilda slammed the table and loudly demanded, "The seat you're sitting in now belongs to Matilda. She always sits here, so you need to move and give the seat back to Matilda." Viennel crossed her arms and smiled, "Then call out the seat. If it agrees with you, I'll admit that it's Matilda's seat. But if it doesn't, I can't give you the seat because you can't prove it belongs to you." "Helen, let's teach her a lesson!" the girl on the left rolled up her shirt sleeves, intending to physically remove Viennel. With a gentle grab, Viennel caught her wrist and pushed her backward, causing her to hit the desk in the next row. "Linda, are you okay?" Helen went to help Linda up, then looked at Viennel fiercely, "Damn it, I'll teach you a lesson!" Viennel's attention wasn't on these two followers but on Matilda. From beginning to end, Matilda hadn't said a word; she was just watching the show. If Helen and Linda really could teach Viennel a lesson, it would be great for her. And if Viennel and Linda ended up fighting, then in the end, the three of them would be affected. Seeing the smirk on her face, Viennel knew she had malicious intentions. She was probably waiting for Viennel to make a move. Viennel couldn't let her watch from the sidelines. If there was going to be a fight here today, Viennel had to drag Matilda down with her. "Matilda, are these two your lackeys?" Viennel sneered, "They're really weak. I just moved their wrist a little, and they flew out. They're not even resistant. What kind of master you have determines what kind of lackeys you have, right? What do you say?" Matilda could tell Viennel was belittling her, saying that she had chosen two trashy people who weren't even worthy of following her. To be honest, Matilda didn't want to pick Helen and Linda as her lackeys, but students at St. Leon's University were busy, and there weren't many people as idle as Helen and Linda, who were always available whenever she needed them. "Matilda, if I were you, I'd fire these two idiots," Viennel said with a smile, "They can't shield you from bullets, they can't hold seats for you, and all they do is follow you around making noise. What's the use of keeping them?" "This has nothing to do with you!" Matilda was touched by Viennel's words, and she shouted, "They're my friends, not yours!" Viennel chuckled, "Indeed, I wouldn't hang out with idiots like them. It would affect my intelligence." Even at St. Leon's University, there was a gap in students' abilities. People like Helen and Linda weren't very outstanding. Smart people only looked for friends who were equal to them, not followers who were higher than them. Obviously, Linda and Helen were just Matilda's followers, not her friends. "Who are you calling idiots?" Helen was very angry and picked up a book from the desk, ready to hit Viennel.
