Nelson remembered the auction day when Sabrina humbled herself. She wanted to repurchase the brooch at double the price. Sabrina wanted to explain that it was a keepsake from her father. However, Nelson had interrupted her. It was also the same day she said she would divorce him if he gave her the brooch. Nelson looked at Sabrina. Simon recounted Sabrina's father's interesting stories while she listened attentively. Her eyes sparkled like finely cut diamonds. After taking their seats, Sabrina thanked Simon for sharing stories about her father from before he was married. She couldn't handle hard liquor. But upon learning Simon's love for drinking, she drank glass after glass with him. As an experienced old man, Simon could see Sabrina's sincerity. He felt that she truly resembled her father. Simon felt an instant connection with Sabrina. As her elder, he hesitated to continue drinking with her. Thus, he turned to Nelson and asked, "Nel, why do you seem so distracted today?"
